Alternapak: "A Brick Breakthrough"
We are proud to present the "Alterna Switch", the solution for filling Alternapak aseptic brick-shaped cartons on Tetra Brik Aseptic machines.
For decades Tetra Pak's Brik machines could only function with original Tetra Pak packaging material due to the patented register control system of the Brik machines. Now, making use of the Alterna Switch technology, Alternapak can offer the market an alternative packaging material that will run smoothly on Tetra Brik machines without infringing on the Tetra Pak patent.
The history of the Alterna Switch actually started in 1985 with the foundation of Variopak, a relatively small player in the market of gable-top cartons, which over the years acquired a 10% market share in Europe.
In 2003 Variopak entered a co-operation with Elopak, one of the world's leading suppliers of packaging systems for non-carbonated liquid food products, with its Pure PakŪ gable-top carton systems. Variopak became a subcontractor of Elopak for the manufacture of gable-top cartons and the gable-top activities have been continued under the brand name Fortapak. At the same time the aseptic project was developed under the brand name Alternapak.
Today Alternapak can provide customers with high quality brick-shaped cartons, making use of the new Alterna Switch. The Alterna Switch is a means for customers to 'switch' over from Tetra Brik to Alternapak cartons and vice versa on the same Tetra Brik Aseptic machine. It is an intelligent plug and play system, easy to attach to an existing machine, 100% safe, and simple to operate. Just switch the Switch.
